The CAP - Unexpected Help part 2
by Antares

Antares made her way to Hades' study. The room was lined with books of records all dealing with the dead he had to keep track of. The flickering candlelight revealed Hades handsome features as he reviewed on of the volumes. She picked up some of the records and started filing them away absentmindedly. Knowing what she wanted to say, and figuring out exactly how to say it were two different things. Antares ran various phrases through her head as she filed. She turned around to pick up another bunch of records, and ran into the ruler of the Underworld.

"Oh!"

"What's wrong?" Antares gaze traveled up to his concerned expression. Gazing into his gorgeous eyes, she was momentarily struck speechless.

"I….uh…..there's….."

"What is it?" Hades' gentle voice coaxed her.

"It's Deb U." Antares looked down, trying to remember what it was she was going to talk to him about.

"What about it?" He chuckled thinking of the mayhem that passed for a university in the world above.

"I don't know all the details." She glanced up to see what reception her words were getting. "I only overheard parts of it." Antares paused. " The school seems to be in danger, and if I lose my position there…I won't be able to come down here as often as I do…" She continued on in a rush.

Hades put his arms around her pulling her into his chest and stroking her long soft hair.

"Don't worry. I'll do whatever's necessary to keep the school going." He reassured her.

"But…" Antares began.

"Shhhh…." He murmured. "I'll do whatever you need me to do, to keep it open."

Antares stretched up on her toes, and kissed him softly on the lips. He paused a moment, and then bent down to meet her lips in a more passionate kiss. Her arms went around him, as they slowly sank to the carpet…….

BlueTopaz sifted through the latest bunch of incoming scrolls. There never seemed to be an end to them. A soft clearing of the throat caught her attention. She glanced through the open door of her office.

"Oh, Antares, what can I do for you?" Bt resumed reading the scroll in her hand.

"I need to borrow a scroll"

"Huh? What do you want a scroll for?"

"Let's just say, I've covered some bases for you." Antares winked.

Bt put down the scroll she was reading, and regarded the amazon in front of her.

"Oh, you have, have you?" Bt wasn't quite sure what she was getting at.

"Yes." Antares strolled over to the desk and picked up an ornate scroll, glancing at it before Bt could pull it away. "This one should do nicely." Antares smiled. "I'm sure I can interest Astraea in it."

Bt relaxed back into her chair.

"You can?" The wheels started spinning in Bt's head. Jackie and Kel could probably use a little help. She decided to take Antares up on her offer. "Go ahead, but I'll need it back shortly."

"Great!" Antares smiled broadened. "Don't worry, everything will go fine."

After several inquiries, Antares was finally able find out where Astraea was hiding. She purposely strode into the room.

"What do you want?" Astraea quickly pulled her hand back from the statue of Iolaus she'd been caressing.

"I've been hearing a lot of rumors." Antares assumed the worried student attitude.

"There are always rumors going about, why should any new ones bother you?"

"Well….I've heard that Deb U's in jeopardy. I was talking to Hades about it."

"Hades? What are you doing with my uncle?"

"I'm his assistant remember? You gave me the position."

"Oh, right." Astraea muttered to herself. It was probably the worst decision she'd made.

"Hades said he'd be willing to do anything to help the school." Antares conspicuously fiddled with the scroll.

"What have you got there?"

"This, oh nothing."

"Let me see it." Antares reluctantly handed the scroll to her.

Astraea scanned through it quickly.

"What were you going to do with this?"

"I was going to show Hades." Antares put on her best poker face.

"Hades is going to be there?"

"He said he'd do anything to help the school out."

Astraea set the scroll down on her desk and gazed out the window, her mind spinning with the possibilities of spending time with her favorite uncle. Antares quickly grabbed the scroll and exited the room.
