Kel's Addendum: For CJ, and those who wish her dead

The Ghost of Keleo

CJ wandered through the eerily quiet Admin Building. With the Chancellors and their staff all dead but her, now would be a perfect time to go poking around in some of those files labeled “private”. As she turned the corner, she stopped short. That looked like Castalia, but she was transparent. “What are you doing here?”

Castalia, or technically her earth-bound soul, turned around, “What are you doing here?”

“I asked you first,” CJ pointed out.

“I’m here on a work release,” answered Cas. “Why are you here?”

“Well, as the only member of the staff still alive, I came here to try to keep things in working order,” sniffed CJ haughtily.

“And look in private files,” added Castalia quietly.

“Yes, uh, no wait, no, uh,” CJ blushed. “Yeah.”

“Figures,” commented a voice from behind.

“Yeah,” chimed in Stormie, as CJ turned to find her and Kat floating in the hall. “Figures. That’s darned sneaky.”

“You’re just sorry you didn’t think of it first,” said CJ.

“Says who?” Kat arched a brow. “We already looked.”

“You’re lying,” challenged CJ. “You’re just trying to make me think that cuz you want to feel good about something. But you don’t have anything to feel good about cuz you’re dead and I’m alive. I’ve outsmarted the Harbinger of Death longer than you... neener, neener, neener!”

“That’s getting really annoying,” commented DT as she floated through the wall.

“Tell me about it,” added Ladybug.

“Time of death is not really a fair indication,” Antares put in. “Some go earlier than others. That‘s just the way it works.”

That sentiment was reinforced by the several nods and spoken agreements of the other ghosts that had arrived on the scene. CJ looked around and realized that the hallway was filling up with quite a number of ghosts... several of whom she’d taunted recently.

“I think we should do something about that attitude of hers,” growled Aeaea.

“What are you going to do?” asked CJ. “You’re ghosts. It’s not like you can actually touch anything... you go right through.”

“Oh if it were just one of us, that might be true,” grinned Shiva. “But we’ve discovered working in a group, we can have a significant effect on the physical world. And with this many ghosts, I’d bet we could even pick up a person.”

CJ squirmed and wiggled trying to escape from their grasp as they lifted her up and floated with her to the roof of the building. “This isn’t funny!”

“Don’t you wanna join in the fun at Harby’s mansion?” giggled Yvenna.

CJ was near panic. “I thought Harby told you that you couldn’t plot my death!”

“This isn’t plotting,” Mania informed her solemnly, “this is doing.”

“Uh-oh, is that Kel?” asked Shiva suddenly.

“Can’t be,” said Kat. “She was supposed to be in the library doing census stuff all afternoon.”

“Well that sure looks like her,” pointed out Castalia.

“Did you finish that report?” asked Kat.

“No, have you finished filing?”

“No.”

Shiva added, “And if she finds out that not only did we sneak Red Storm through the portal again, but DT, Ladybug, Antares, Aeaea, Shiva, Mania and Yvenna too, she’s gonna be really mad.”

Without another thought, the ghosts began sinking through the ceiling of the building, to get back to where they were supposed to be. CJ hit the roof with a thump and an “oof!” Looking around, CJ saw that she was now completely alone, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

Maybe, she decided, it would be better if she didn’t look at those private files just now. She could always do it at a later date... after all, Bt never had found out who had superglued the file cabinet drawers shut. With that happy thought, CJ made her way down the fire escape to avoid those inside, and headed for the dorms. After all, with most of the students dead, now seemed like a perfect time to go poking around to see what people were hiding in their closets...
